Wide receiver Mike Evans scored his first touchdown for the San Francisco 49ers on 10 September 2026, catching a 2-yard pass from quarterback Brock Purdy during the second half. The score extended the 49ers' lead to 17-7 with 11 minutes and 3 seconds remaining in the third quarter. Evans caught the ball on third down whilst being defended by cornerback Jaylen Watson. The touchdown was Evans's 109th career score across the National Football League.
Evans completed six receptions for 49 yards in the match, with five of those catches coming on third-down plays. The touchdown drive lasted seven plays and covered 51 yards, following a 45-yard kickoff return by Deebo Samuel. Purdy completed 20 of 28 pass attempts for 157 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. The 49ers had previously recorded 108 touchdowns by Evans during his time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The 49ers ruled out tight end Jake Tonges after he sustained a knee injury in the first half. Rookie wide receiver De'Zhaun Stribling was also ruled out with a left ankle injury. Evans joined the 49ers as a significant offensive acquisition during the 2026 offseason.
