INDIANA FEVER ASSISTANT COACH WELCOMES SECOND CHILD
Karima Christmas-Kelly, an assistant coach at the Indiana Fever, and her husband Austin Kelly have announced the birth of their second child, a daughter named Kali. The Indiana Fever shared news of the birth on social media, posting a photograph of Christmas-Kelly holding her newborn whilst wearing a Fever hoodie. Christmas-Kelly is currently on maternity leave from her role with the franchise.
Christmas-Kelly has worked as an assistant coach for the Fever since 2023 and previously welcomed her first child, a son named Zayn, with Austin in 2023. The couple met as student-athletes at Duke University and married in April 2017. The announcement came during a scheduled break in the 2026 WNBA regular season whilst players compete at the FIBA World Cup, where Fever players Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston are representing Team USA.
Several Fever players responded to the announcement on social media. Clark, who is preparing for Team USA's World Cup quarterfinal against Hungary, liked the post. Teammate Sophie Cunningham commented on the announcement, whilst Lexie Hull also reacted to the news. The World Cup break has allowed Austin Kelly additional time with his family during his wife's maternity leave.
