KELLY OSBOURNE SAYS SHE DISAGREES WITH MOTHER'S POLITICAL VIEWS

Kelly Osbourne stated she does not agree with her mother Sharon's political positions during an interview at the National Television Awards red carpet in London. When questioned about Sharon's stance, Kelly said: "I don't agree. I don't agree with my mum, no." She acknowledged the difficulty of the situation, saying "It's hard, 'cos I love my mum, but I also have to understand she's entitled to her own opinions as well." Kelly indicated she finds it particularly challenging when discussing politics, but added it was not a matter for public commentary.

Sharon faced backlash in April after expressing support for a "Unite the Kingdom" rally organised by Tommy Robinson. In a 2022 interview, Sharon stated her belief that trans women should not compete against cisgender women in sports and suggested that children identifying as trans or nonbinary was a temporary trend. When told her mother's views on transgender issues might not align with her own, Kelly expressed sadness and said she believed Sharon lacked sufficient knowledge of transgender people to form a fair judgement. Kelly added that for her, transgender matters constitute "my world" and said she could not imagine being "born into a body that doesn't belong to you."

Kelly indicated that when she discusses these subjects with Sharon, her mother responds positively to the conversation. She characterised the disagreement as "a misunderstanding" rather than a deliberate stance against LGBTQ+ people. Kelly said of her mother's responses: "She gets it."
