DANA WHITE CONSIDERS TOPURIA REMATCH OR PIMBLETT FIGHT

The UFC is preparing Ilia Topuria's return to competition following his first career defeat to Justin Gaethje at UFC Freedom 250 in June, according to Dana White, the promotion's chief executive. White stated that matchmakers are considering two options for Topuria's next bout: a rematch against Gaethje or a fight with Paddy Pimblett. White told The Jim Rome Show that both matchups would serve as compelling comeback fights, though no bout has been formally scheduled.

A rematch with Gaethje would allow Topuria to avenge his only professional loss, which ended when his corner stopped the fight in the fourth round. The Gaethje bout would also address a "quitter" narrative that emerged from the stoppage. A fight against Pimblett would settle a long-standing rivalry between the two fighters that began following an altercation in London in March 2022. White noted that the two men have traded public criticism for years and described both potential opponents as "great fights" for the former lightweight champion.

Either matchup would position Topuria for a path back toward title contention, according to the report. White stated the promotion has not yet decided between the two options and emphasised that no announcement should be regarded as confirmed based on his remarks. Topuria had previously written an emotional letter to his son, Hugo, reflecting on overcoming adversity and acknowledged his mistakes during the Gaethje bout.
