MEGAN THEE STALLION DISCUSSES BREAKUP WITH KLAY THOMPSON IN INTERVIEW

Megan Thee Stallion spoke publicly for the first time about her breakup with Dallas Mavericks guard Klay Thompson in an InStyle interview published in September. The Houston rapper said the split was "very rough" and that she continues to attend therapy. She described feeling she had been "put through the washing machine and the dryer" during the relationship's aftermath. The interview was conducted in mid-July.

In a February interview with Complex, Megan Thee Stallion had described dating Thompson as making her feel "overly comfortable" for the first time in her life. The relationship ended two months later. In her InStyle comments, she reflected on having spent the relationship "trying to make pieces fit that didn't belong" and acknowledged she was "losing myself a little bit." She stated a boundary for future relationships: "I'm going to be Megan Thee Stallion," she said, "and that isn't negotiable."

In April, Megan Thee Stallion posted on Instagram accusing Thompson of "cheating" and "cold feet," stating she had supported him through "horrible mood swings" during his season with the Mavericks. A statement attributed to her at that time said: "Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship," and that once those values are compromised, there is no path forward. Thompson is a four-time NBA champion.
