SAM DARNOLD LEAVES SEAHAWKS GAME WITH HIP INJURY
Sam Darnold was removed from the Seattle Seahawks' season-opening game against the New England Patriots on 9 September after suffering a hip injury on the team's first drive. Darnold was sacked by defensive end Dre'Mont Jones during the opening possession and came up limping. He initially remained on the sideline before entering the medical tent, then limped to the locker room for further examination. Drew Lock replaced him for the Seahawks' second drive.
Darnold completed one of two passes for 13 yards before the injury occurred. The Seahawks announced he was questionable to return with the hip injury. The two teams were tied 0-0 midway through the first quarter when the injury took place.
The incident marks an early setback for Seattle's campaign. No timeline for Darnold's potential return was disclosed by the Seahawks at the time of reporting.
