HOUTHIS REPORT SAUDI AIR STRIKES ACROSS YEMEN
Saudi Arabia launched more than 30 air strikes across several regions of Yemen on Wednesday, according to reports from Houthi-run Al Masirah TV. The strikes targeted the governorates of Marib, al-Jawf, Taiz and Hodeida. The bombardment followed Houthi attacks on Saudi oil facilities, which the Houthis said wounded dozens of people.
The strikes represent an escalation in fighting between the Houthis and the Saudi-backed Yemeni government. A four-year truce between the two sides broke down in July. The recent Houthi offensive has moved towards the Red Sea's Bab al-Mandab chokepoint, a strategically significant shipping route. The cycle of strikes and counter-strikes marks a renewal of direct confrontation after an extended period of relative calm.
The attacks underscore the fragility of ceasefires in Yemen's conflict, which has caused widespread civilian hardship over many years. No independent verification of casualty figures or damage assessments was immediately available. The trajectory of the fighting remains unclear, with no confirmed statements from either side regarding ceasefire negotiations or military objectives.
