APPLE FOLDABLE IPHONE DUBBED 'DUO', PRICED FROM $2,000

WED 09 SEP 2026 MOBILE

Apple's foldable iPhone will be called the iPhone Duo and start at $2,000 for a 256GB model, according to reports citing Mark Gurman of Bloomberg. A fully equipped 2TB version will cost approximately $3,000. The device is expected to be announced at Apple's event on 9 September and begin shipping in October, available in white and dark blue.

The iPhone Duo will reportedly feature Apple's A20 Pro chip, a C2 modem and dual 48-megapixel rear cameras alongside a 12-megapixel front camera. The foldable design will open into a landscape orientation similar to Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8, enabling side-by-side multitasking with multiple apps running simultaneously. The device will support Apple Pencil stylus input and incorporate a magnetic hinge system. According to the reports, Apple has accepted lower profit margins on the Duo to reach the $2,000 starting price and increase demand.

The $2,000 price point falls between competing foldables: the Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 begin at $1,899, whilst the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra starts at $2,099.99. The name Duo recycles a designation previously used by Microsoft for its Surface Duo foldable devices and by Apple for a line of notebooks in 1995. The iPhone 18 and iPhone 18 Pro models are also expected to be announced at the same event, with the Pro variants reportedly $100 more expensive than their predecessors.
