WREXHAM HELD TO 1-1 DRAW BY BURNLEY AT HOME
Wrexham drew 1-1 at home against Burnley in a Championship fixture. Jacques Ekomie scored a second-half header to equalise for the hosts after falling behind. Wrexham remain unbeaten in three games but have not won at the Racecourse this season. Burnley started the evening at the foot of the Championship table.
Manager Phil Parkinson said his side had areas to improve defensively. He noted that Wrexham did not press effectively in the first half and allowed opposition players too much space in certain areas, describing the team as "a bit passive" in their approach. Parkinson said the pressing improved after half-time following tactical adjustments. He added that two earlier wins—a 3-0 victory at Millwall and a 0-0 draw at Swansea—showed the team could restrict opponents effectively, suggesting the Burnley performance was an inconsistency rather than a pattern.
Wrexham face West Ham United away on Friday evening in their next fixture. Parkinson expressed concern about the availability of defender Max Cleworth and forward Josh Windass following injuries sustained against Burnley, though he suggested the injuries may not be serious. Cleworth came off after 30 minutes with a suspected hamstring issue, whilst Windass did not return for the second half after sustaining a calf injury.
