STEELERS FIRST-ROUND PICK MAX IHEANACHOR'S HOME BURGLED
Burglars broke into the Pittsburgh home of Max Iheanachor, a first-round draft pick for the Pittsburgh Steelers, on 26 August. The break-in occurred in the Duquesne Heights section of Pittsburgh's Mount Washington neighbourhood whilst the home's two occupants were away. According to a Pittsburgh police spokesperson, the occupants reported that jewellery and designer bags valued between $150,000 and $200,000 went missing. The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police is investigating the incident; no arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified.
The burglary took place on Bradley Street sometime between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The occupants reported leaving the house and garage locked before departing for those three hours. Upon their return, they found the garage door open and a window broken, apparently struck with a rock. Iheanachor was selected 21st overall in this year's draft.
The incident follows a documented pattern of home burglaries targeting National Football League players. Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Joe Burrow have all experienced home burglaries previously. Saquon Barkley, a running back for the Philadelphia Eagles, reported an attempted break-in at his home in July whilst his family was inside; no property was taken in that incident and no injury occurred. The timing of Iheanachor's burglary coincided with the Steelers' preseason game in Buffalo on 27 August.
