RANGERS STRIKER SHANKLAND SIDELINED WITH HAMSTRING INJURY
Lawrence Shankland will be absent from Rangers for an extended period following a hamstring injury sustained during the club's victory over Motherwell. One account reported the injury will keep him out for approximately four months, whilst another suggested three months on the sidelines, with the possibility he may not return until the end of the year. Manager Derek McInnes expressed concern after the match that the injury could prove significant for the striker.
Shankland joined Rangers from Hearts and scored three goals in his opening five Scottish Premiership appearances. The injury compounds Rangers' difficulties in the centre-forward position, as fellow striker Youseff Chermiti was already ruled out for a substantial period earlier in the season with a serious knee injury. Rangers sit fourth in the Scottish Premiership having won three of their opening five matches.
The club faces the prospect of operating with limited options at centre-forward during a crucial part of the season. The summer transfer window has closed, limiting Rangers' ability to make permanent signings. However, the club may pursue options in the free agent market to address the shortage of attacking cover.
