TUE 08 SEP 2026 FOOTBALL

Hyundai Motor Company has secured a five-season agreement to become the official automotive partner of the UEFA Champions League, beginning with the 2026-27 campaign and running through 2030-31. The partnership was secured through UC3, UEFA's joint venture with European Football Clubs, and commenced as the new Champions League season began on 8 September. Matchday 1 fixtures included Real Madrid versus Inter, Porto versus Manchester City, Napoli versus Arsenal, and Liverpool versus Atlético Madrid. The 36-team league phase runs until 27 January 2027.

The agreement provides Hyundai with a competition-wide European platform as the company advances its product strategy. Hyundai will engage supporters through fan experiences, customer and retailer activities, and will showcase its evolving mobility portfolio and technology ambitions. The all-electric IONIQ 3, designed and developed in Europe, will feature prominently in the partnership. The compact hatchback offers up to 497 kilometres of WLTP range, a drag coefficient of 0.263 Cd, and 441 litres of boot capacity. The IONIQ 3 is the first battery-electric vehicle to enter production at Hyundai's facility in İzmit, Türkiye.

The IONIQ 3 is the first of five major models Hyundai plans to launch in Europe during the 2026-27 season, giving the Champions League partnership a direct role in the company's upcoming product cycle. José Muñoz, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hyundai Motor Company, stated that football has been part of Hyundai for almost thirty years and brings people together across languages, borders and generations. Muñoz added that the UEFA Champions League is an ideal platform to display the company's vehicles.
