ENES KANTER EJECTED FROM WNBA GAME AFTER ALTERCATION WITH PLAYER

TUE 08 SEP 2026

Enes Kanter was ejected from a Chicago Sky versus Indiana Fever game on 23 August after an altercation with Chicago player Natasha Cloud. The incident began after Cloud scored and turned to yell and point towards Kanter, who was seated courtside wearing a shirt reading "WOMAN, noun. Adult human female." Kanter rose from his seat, stepped towards the floor and traded verbal exchanges with Cloud before arena security and players intervened to separate them. Kanter was then escorted from the building.

Following his ejection, Kanter posted on social media stating he had been "kicked out of a WNBA game for supporting WOMEN". Kanter has since filed a lawsuit against being banned from the Chicago Sky arena. The altercation has added prominence to ongoing debate within professional basketball regarding transgender athletes competing in women's sport.

Michael Porter Jr, speaking on his interview programme Curious Mike, stated that whilst he understood Kanter's intent to make a point about fairness in women's sport, he questioned the methods used. Porter Jr said: "If his point was to protect them and protect the WNBA, or to kind of just show that it's not fair to have men who transition playing in that sport, then why are you getting into it?" Porter Jr was not alone in viewing Kanter's tactics as inappropriate for advancing the argument.
