TEACHER SACKED AFTER REVEALING YOUTUBE SEARCH HISTORY TO PUPILS
James Hindson, a teacher at Moreton Hall School in Shropshire, was dismissed after accidentally displaying his YouTube search history to pupils during a geography lesson in May 2025. Students reported seeing search terms including "teen bikini haul" and either "teens in thongs" or "girls in thongs" on the screen. One pupil photographed the display, and the school launched an investigation into the incident. Mr Hindson admitted to the Teaching Regulation Agency conduct panel that at least one of the search terms was displayed to pupils during the class and that the searches were of a sexual nature.
A panel hearing examined Mr Hindson's search history and found that multiple search terms contained common themes of a sexual nature. The school's investigation identified a "long list of inappropriate videos" that had been searched for over a prolonged period. Mr Hindson submitted a written statement claiming the searches had been conducted at home. The panel stated that it "carefully considered whether there was any innocent explanation for the conduct but found none on the evidence before it".
The TRA conduct panel concluded that the searches displayed to pupils and those found in the account history constituted misconduct. The school's decision to dismiss Mr Hindson followed the investigation's findings. No further action or appeal process was outlined in the panel's published decision.
