ZOE BALL LAUNCHES AFTERNOON SHOW ON GREATEST HITS RADIO

Zoe Ball began broadcasting a new weekday afternoon programme on Greatest Hits Radio on Monday. The show, titled Zoe Ball in the Afternoon, airs from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday. Ball selected "I've Got the Music in Me" by the Kiki Dee Band as the opening track. She told listeners that excitement levels were "currently peaking" and expressed enthusiasm about working alongside Ken Bruce and Simon Mayo on the station.

Ball returned to full-time radio broadcasting after a two-year break spent with her family. She told the Radio Times that the offer from Greatest Hits Radio felt like "a gorgeous gift and fabulous timing". According to one report, Ball previously held a position at BBC Radio 2. Ball said during her debut show that she was experiencing "new girl nerves" and had to remember to breathe as she settled into the role.

The appointment marks Ball's move to the commercial radio sector. Greatest Hits Radio broadcasts a format centred on music from previous decades. Ball's previous full-time radio role was reportedly remunerated at £520,000 annually, according to one account.
