MANCHESTER UNITED CONFIRM SIX PLAYERS TO LEAVE CLUB THIS SUMMER

WED 10 JUN 2026 FOOTBALL

Manchester United have published their retained list for the 2025/26 season, confirming that six players will depart the club when their contracts expire at the end of June. Jadon Sancho, Casemiro, Tyrell Malacia, Sonny Aljofree, James Bailey and Malachi Sharpe will all leave Old Trafford. Sancho joined United from Borussia Dortmund for £73 million in 2021 and made 83 appearances for the club, scoring 12 goals and registering six assists. His final appearance came as a substitute in the 2024 Community Shield against Manchester City.

United were unable to sell Sancho during either of the last two summer transfer windows despite attempts to agree a permanent fee, meaning he departs on a free transfer. He spent the second half of the 2023/24 season on loan at Borussia Dortmund, followed by a loan spell at Chelsea in 2024/25 and a further loan at Aston Villa in 2025/26. Casemiro, who announced his departure in January, signed for United from Real Madrid in 2022 and made more than 150 appearances during his time at the club. He contributed to United's victories in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, and ended his final season helping United secure qualification for the Champions League.

Casemiro made his last United appearance in a 3-2 win against Nottingham Forest. United's retained list announcement was made on Wednesday morning. The club will lose all six players on a free basis once the June contract expiry dates pass. Sancho's departure ends a five-year association with United that included 23 caps for England during the period.
