DUNKLEY CENTURY SECURES ENGLAND 3-0 ODI SWEEP OVER IRELAND

SUN 06 SEP 2026 CRICKET

Sophia Dunkley's 119 guided England to a 114-run victory over Ireland in the third one-day international at New Road, Worcester, sealing a 3-0 series clean sweep. England batted first and reached 291 in 48.5 overs, with Dunkley's run-a-ball century forming the foundation of the innings. Dunkley added 73 for the first wicket with Maia Bouchier, who scored 39, before England's middle order deteriorated sharply. The hosts lost their final six wickets for 31 runs, with all-rounder Freya Kemp dismissed for 23 and Jodi Grewcock caught and bowled for 35.

Ireland's reply proved insufficient against England's bowling attack. Amy Hunter top-scored for Ireland with 39, but no Irish batter achieved a strike rate above 100 as the required run-rate became unattainable. Ireland were bowled out for 177 in 44.2 overs. Lauren Filer and Mady Villiers each took three wickets, whilst Cara Murray claimed 4-56 for the visitors. England's wicketkeeper Alice Capsey added two stumpings to her performance, including one standing up to a bouncer from Ryana MacDonald-Gay.

England head coach Charlotte Edwards confirmed the series outcome met the team's objectives. Edwards noted satisfaction with Capsey's work behind the stumps, stating there remained a possibility for her to keep wicket in Twenty20 cricket, and that competition for places had been generated across the squad. The series concluded England's international summer schedule.
