A suspect has been arrested following a burglary at the Arden home of Dave Marcis, a former NASCAR Cup Series driver who competed from 1968 to 2002. Marcis discovered the burglary on Friday, 28 August, after returning from a week away. Items were scattered across the floor, and the basement door had been opened. According to reports, thousands of pounds worth of memorabilia were stolen from the property.

Marcis made 883 starts during his NASCAR career, winning five races and driving for Penske Racing. Among the stolen items were Rolex watches gifted to him by Roger Penske upon his retirement, a race suit, rings and several rifles, including one given to him by Dale Earnhardt. Marcis' daughter, Shawn Beam, told ABC News 13 that the arrested person did not know the family. Some of the stolen items held particular significance, as they were gifts Marcis had received with his wife, Helen, who died eight months prior to the burglary.

The investigation progressed when someone contacted Beam via Facebook claiming to have unknowingly purchased one of the stolen items. This led the Henderson County Sheriff's Office to Smiley's Flea Market, where additional stolen belongings from Marcis' home were located. Beam said the arrest provided relief to her father, though she reported that Marcis felt the loss deeply given the personal and historical value of the stolen memorabilia.
