JAMEIS WINSTON AGREES TWO-YEAR EXTENSION WITH GIANTS
The New York Giants and quarterback Jameis Winston have agreed to a two-year contract extension worth $13 million, according to multiple reports. The deal extends Winston's commitment to the Giants through the 2028 season. Winston currently serves as backup to starting quarterback Jaxson Dart.
Winston was selected as the first overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft. He began his career as a starter with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he played for five seasons. He subsequently spent one year with the Cleveland Browns, starting seven games; four years with the New Orleans Saints, starting ten games; and one year with the Giants, starting two games.
By accepting the extension, Winston chose to remain with the Giants rather than become a free agent in March 2027, when he could have pursued a starting role elsewhere. The new agreement represents a total three-year commitment to the organisation. Winston is 32 years old.
