THREE CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER AFTER SHOTGUN FIRED IN BRAINTREE
Two adults and a teenager have been charged with attempted murder following a shotgun discharge in Braintree town centre on Monday evening. Essex Police attended Market Place at approximately 22:10 BST after officers described the incident as a targeted attack. Two teenagers sustained serious injuries to their face and upper body, whilst a third person was also injured.
Destiny Ema, aged 23 of Meadgate Avenue in Chelmsford, and Kayden Brown, aged 18 of Noaks Avenue in Chelmsford, face the attempted murder charge alongside a 17-year-old from Braintree who cannot be named for legal reasons. Ema has additionally been charged with attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, possession of a firearm whilst committing an indictable offence, possession of a firearm whilst prohibited for life, harassment, malicious communications, and possession of a shotgun with intent to cause fear of violence. A 16-year-old boy previously arrested in connection with the incident has been released on police bail until 30 November.
The three charged individuals are due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on Monday. The charges against Ema relate both to the shotgun incident and to separate investigations. Essex Police have not released further details regarding the circumstances leading to the targeted attack or the identities of those injured.
