DOLPHINS WAIVE 12 PLAYERS IN ROSTER CUTS AHEAD OF SEASON
The Miami Dolphins have announced the waiver of 12 players as National Football League clubs begin mandatory roster reductions to 53 players by Sunday at 6 p.m. ET. The cuts include cornerback Alex Austin, running back Coleman Bennett, tackle Kevin Cline, edge Seth Coleman-Lyles, tight end Ethan Conner, inside linebacker Stephen Dix Jr., running back Donovan Edwards, defensive lineman Alex Huntley, safety Louis Moore, defensive lineman Cam Rice, inside linebacker Jaheim Thomas and wide receiver Theo Wease Jr. Miami concluded its preseason with a 17-12 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Friday night.
The roster reductions mark the final stage of preseason preparation before the regular season begins. All 32 NFL clubs must reduce their rosters from the expanded preseason limit to exactly 53 players within the deadline. The cuts come after preseason matches in which players compete for remaining spots on rosters.
The deadline of Sunday at 6 p.m. ET applies league-wide, meaning all clubs must complete their roster reductions simultaneously. Players who are waived enter free agency and become available for other teams to sign. The process represents a significant moment for franchise front offices and coaching staff as they finalise their opening-day squads.
