TARKOWSKI SCORES IN STOPPAGE TIME AS EVERTON DRAW WITH BOURNEMOUTH

SAT 29 AUG 2026 FOOTBALL

James Tarkowski scored an equaliser in injury time as Everton drew with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. The match marked Marco Rose's home Premier League debut as Bournemouth manager. Bournemouth had taken the lead through a first-half goal from Alex Scott. The result extended Bournemouth's unbeaten home record, which stretches back to 3 January, though the club also continued a pattern of conceding late goals.

Everton began the match confidently, recording eight shots in the opening 30 minutes. Jarrad Branthwaite went close early on, whilst Djordje Petrovic, Bournemouth's goalkeeper, fumbled a shot from Tyrique George that Thierno Barry failed to capitalise on. Bournemouth gradually built momentum as the match progressed, with Brazilian winger Rayan proving difficult to contain, exploiting space against Everton left-back Vitalii Mykolenko. The Vitality Stadium itself is undergoing renovation work.

The match took place against a backdrop of reported uncertainty at Everton, with supporters calling for young midfielder Harrison Armstrong, aged 19, to remain at the club amid reported interest from Nottingham Forest. Reports suggested that Everton could pursue a deal involving midfielder Jack Grealish returning from Manchester City as part of a swap arrangement with striker Iliman Ndiaye. Both sides finished the match with a point apiece.
