MIKE PERRY ACCEPTS PAY CUT AFTER DANIS PULLS OUT OF ORLANDO FIGHT

SAT 29 AUG 2026

Mike Perry has accepted a significant reduction in his purse for an upcoming fight at Duel Arena's inaugural event in Orlando, Florida, after his originally scheduled opponent Dillon Danis withdrew due to a cut on his arm. Perry will now face replacement opponent Brandon Jenkins, a former UFC fighter, on 29 August. According to reporting, Perry initially accepted a 50 per cent pay cut, though Perry himself did not confirm that specific figure when addressing the situation publicly.

Perry told MMA Fighting that the reduction was substantial and unexpected given the circumstances of the last-minute change. "Without the other famous guy, I've got to take a huge pay cut, a massive pay cut to take this new fight," Perry said, noting that he had prepared to compete in his home city. The financial adjustment reflects a difference in commercial appeal between Danis, who brought additional star power to the event, and Jenkins, an experienced fighter with a lower public profile. Duel Arena reduced Perry's purse as part of negotiations between the fighter and promotion conducted on short notice.

Similar situations have occurred in professional mixed martial arts before. In 2017, Tony Ferguson complained after the UFC reduced his pay when Khabib Nurmagomedov withdrew from their scheduled bout at UFC 209 due to weight-cut-related illness. Michael Johnson subsequently replaced Nurmagomedov for that fight. Perry has stated that his goal remains to deliver an entertaining performance for audiences in his city despite the financial terms of the replacement bout.
