J. COLE CANCELS SACRAMENTO SHOW AFTER CREW MEMBER KILLED IN CRASH
Rapper J. Cole cancelled a concert scheduled for Thursday night at the Golden 1 Centre in Sacramento following the death of a tour crew member in a trucking accident. His label, Dreamville, announced the cancellation in a statement and said the thoughts of the organisation were with the crew member's family and loved ones. The driver of a large goods vehicle transporting equipment from Seattle to the Sacramento venue lost control of the lorry on southbound Interstate 5 in Yolo County early Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol. The vehicle overturned and the solo occupant did not survive the crash.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver drifted onto the right shoulder of the motorway before attempting to return to the road, at which point control was lost. Sergeant David Barker of the California Highway Patrol stated that the cause remained unclear, though distraction or falling asleep may have been factors. The Golden 1 Centre confirmed that fans who purchased tickets through Ticketmaster would receive automatic refunds, whilst other ticket holders could seek refunds through their original point of purchase. The arena and the musician's representatives did not state whether the show would be rescheduled.
No statement was issued regarding future dates for the cancelled performance. The incident marks the latest disruption to major touring schedules in the United States. Authorities did not release the name of the deceased crew member at the time of the announcement.
