APPLE TV SUBSCRIPTION PRICE RISES TO $14.99 MONTHLY
Apple has increased the price of its Apple TV subscription service, effective immediately for new subscribers. The monthly plan now costs $14.99, up from a previous price of between $12.99 and $13 depending on the source. An annual subscription now costs $119 or $120, according to different reports. The individual Apple One bundle subscription, which includes Apple TV alongside other Apple services, has also risen to between $21.95 and $22 per month. Current subscribers will be notified approximately one month before the price increase applies to their accounts.
This marks the fourth price increase for Apple TV within as many years. One report stated that the monthly subscription cost has tripled since the service's 2019 launch in the United States. The increases come weeks after Apple premiered the fourth season of Ted Lasso and as the company has expanded its content to include live sports programming such as Formula 1, Major League Baseball and Major League Football. Apple typically includes three months of complimentary Apple TV access with purchases of certain devices. Other streaming services have implemented price increases this year, including Netflix, Prime Video and YouTube Premium, with ESPN planning further increases next month.
The price rise follows Apple's earlier decision this year to raise prices on most of its devices. One report indicated that Apple is also reportedly planning to increase AppleCare Plus subscription costs. The changes reflect a broader trend across the streaming industry toward higher subscription fees, though the exact pricing figures cited differ slightly between reports, with monthly costs listed as either $14.99 or $15 depending on the source.
