GRAND THEFT AUTO 6 GAMEPLAY SHOWN ON NETFLIX BEFORE YOUTUBE RELEASE
Rockstar Games released exclusive gameplay footage of Grand Theft Auto 6 on Netflix before making it available to the general public. The video, titled Grand Theft Auto 6: An Extended Look, premiered on Netflix at 3PM ET / 12PM PDT / 8PM BST / 9PM CEST, featuring footage captured directly from the game running on a PlayStation 5 console. The presentation became available on the Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the Grand Theft Auto 6 website six hours after its Netflix debut, at 9PM ET / 6PM PDT / 2AM BST / 3AM CEST.
The footage provided the first official look at gameplay following multiple teaser trailers. The video showed sequences featuring the two playable characters, Jason and Lucia, including a base jumping section and combat involving quick-time events. The presentation concluded with city and landscape sequences demonstrating the game's lighting systems. The decision to release the footage to Netflix subscribers first proved contentious amongst some players.
The extended look follows widespread leaks of gameplay footage from what was described as a development build. The release comes ahead of the game's launch date of 19 November. The video release represents Rockstar Games' first substantive showcase of how Grand Theft Auto 6 plays in an official capacity.
