SEAHAWKS EXTEND LEONARD WILLIAMS ON $90 MILLION DEAL

FRI 28 AUG 2026 US SPORTS

The Seattle Seahawks have agreed a three-year contract extension with defensive tackle Leonard Williams worth $90 million, according to reports from NFL Network. The deal includes $56 million in guaranteed money and carries an average annual value of $30 million. Williams is now tied with Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Vita Vea as the fifth-highest-paid defensive tackle in the league. The extension keeps Williams with the Seahawks through the 2029 season.

Williams, 32, was entering the final year of his previous contract when the extension was agreed. He joined Seattle midway through the 2023 season and has appeared in 43 games for the club. In the 2025 regular season, he recorded 7.0 sacks, nine tackles for loss and 22 quarterback hits as the Seahawks recorded the league's number-one ranked defence. He added one sack, one tackle for loss and three quarterback hits across three postseason games as Seattle won Super Bowl LX. Across his career with the Jets, Giants and Seahawks, Williams has recorded 61.5 sacks, 93 tackles for loss and 223 quarterback hits.

Earlier in the offseason, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler conducted a poll in which Williams was voted the league's best defensive tackle heading into the 2026 season, with one coordinator describing him as "the most important player on that Super Bowl team." Williams previously stated he preferred not to focus on contract matters, saying that players who concentrate on their deals often perform poorly.
