GOLF CHANNEL CANCELS BIG BREAK REBOOT AFTER GOOD GOOD AD BACKLASH

FRI 28 AUG 2026 GOLF

Golf Channel has cancelled the 2026 season of Big Break, a revival of its golf competition series, citing fallout from a video advertisement released by Good Good, a content creation group partnered with the show. Good Good co-founder Garrett Clark appeared in an advertisement for Callaway Golf in which he shoved creator Alexis Miestowski to the ground, prompting public criticism over its depiction of violence. The network announced it would not complete the season as planned, stating that the intended outcome of the series could no longer be fulfilled. The decision affects 12 competitors selected for the season and the production team involved.

Big Break originally aired from 2003 to 2015 before NBCUniversal discontinued it amid budget and programming cuts. Golf Channel announced a reboot in October 2025 in partnership with Good Good, which aimed to combine traditional golf broadcasting with creator economy content. Good Good members Sean Walsh and Matt Meneghetti were among the selected competitors, whilst Brad Dalke and Tom Broder were named as non-playing captains. The premiere was scheduled for 25 August 2026 but was postponed to 1 September after a sponsor requested its branding be removed from the series.

Good Good removed the advertisement and issued an apology following the backlash. Golf Galaxy, the show's presenting sponsor, and Dick's Sporting Goods subsequently withdrew Good Good merchandise from their retail and online stores. Golf Channel stated it looks forward to Big Break's return in 2027, though no details regarding the show's format or partnerships were provided. Garrett Clark said he does not support domestic violence or related conduct.
