IRANIAN STATE MEDIA BROADCASTS VIDEO TARGETING BARRON TRUMP
Iranian state television has broadcast footage purporting to track the movements of Barron Trump, the 20-year-old son of President Donald Trump. The video, released by media affiliated with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and broadcast on Channel 3, is titled "Where and how should we kill Barron Trump?" and claims a $10 million bounty has been placed on him. The footage alleges to show the location of his university, his escort vehicles and Secret Service positions, whilst claiming his movements are "fully monitored". Neither the bounty claim nor the video's other allegations could be independently verified.
The video makes further claims that an unnamed woman had bypassed Secret Service protection to meet Barron Trump privately and relay information to the video's creators, and that he communicates privately via Xbox. This follows a similar video released by IRGC-affiliated media in July targeting First Lady Melania Trump, titled "Where and how is Melania Trump accessible?", which detailed her movements in New York. Iranian state media has also previously released footage mapping President Trump's motorcade routes and a billboard in Tehran's Islamic Revolution Square depicting Trump in a coffin with the words "We will kill Trump" in English.
The US Secret Service confirmed it was reviewing the footage. An agency spokesperson stated: "The Secret Service is aware of the video and investigates anything that can be perceived as a threat toward our protectees." The threats follow a pattern of Iranian statements regarding retaliation for the January 2020 US drone strike that killed IRGC Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani at Baghdad International Airport, an operation President Trump authorised during his first term. Iranian officials vowed retaliation at the time and have renewed those pledges repeatedly since.
