49ERS OWNER JED YORK ARRESTED IN OHIO ON DISORDERLY CONDUCT
Jed York, owner of the San Francisco 49ers, was arrested on Sunday in East Palestine, Ohio. York pleaded no contest on Monday morning to two misdemeanour charges of disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools, according to reports. He was sentenced to two days in jail, with credit for one day already served, and ordered to pay $1,150 in fines.
The prosecution had amended an initial charge of engaging in prostitution to disorderly conduct. York became the 49ers' chief executive officer in 2008. The arrest took place as multiple high-profile incidents involving National Football League personnel have been reported in Ohio in recent weeks.
York is expected to face potential discipline under the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy. The extent to which the league applies such discipline to owners relative to players remains subject to scrutiny within the sport.
