EAGLES RB JACKSON TAKEN TO HOSPITAL AFTER HEAD INJURY IN PRESEASON GAME

SUN 23 AUG 2026 FOOTBALL

Philadelphia Eagles running back Ja'Quinden Jackson was transported to a local hospital by ambulance during a preseason game against the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, 22 August. The injury occurred on the opening kickoff when Jackson collided with Patriots returner Lan Larison while attempting to make a tackle. Jackson was knocked unconscious and remained motionless on the field as medical personnel from both teams attended to him. He was placed on a backboard and stretcher before being loaded into the ambulance, which drove onto the field. The Eagles released a statement on social media confirming that Jackson "has strength and movement in all extremities and is being taken to a local hospital for further evaluation".

Jackson, who stands 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 233 pounds, joined the Eagles on 10 August as an undrafted running back. He previously played college football at Texas, Utah and Arkansas before beginning his professional career with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who waived him without him appearing in any games. At Philadelphia, Jackson was competing for a backup role behind Saquon Barkley, Tank Bigsby and Will Shipley. The preseason games represented an opportunity for him to prove his value to the team, particularly as the Eagles had Elijah Mitchell on injured reserve.

The entire Eagles roster went onto the field to show support for Jackson as he was transported from the stadium. The incident was deemed sufficiently severe that it was not replayed at Gillette Stadium during the broadcast. Further details regarding Jackson's condition were not immediately disclosed by the team beyond the initial health update.
