HARRISON BUTKER MAKES 69-YARD FIELD GOAL IN PRESEASON CHIEFS GAME
Harrison Butker made a 69-yard field goal for the Kansas City Chiefs against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday night, the longest he has attempted in his career. The kick came with three seconds remaining in the first half and extended Kansas City's lead. Butker had previously made field goals from 45 and 58 yards in the same game. The 69-yard make will not count towards the official NFL record book because it occurred during the preseason.
Later in the contest, Butker's performance declined. After Kansas City scored a touchdown at the end of the third quarter, Butker missed a 42-yard extra-point attempt following a rushing touchdown. He also missed a 43-yard field-goal attempt in the fourth quarter. Butker finished the game with three successful field goals and one miss from the field, whilst failing to convert his only extra-point attempt.
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid stated after the game that he retained confidence in Butker despite the misses. Reid said Butker would learn from the performance and make adjustments. Reid noted that Butker had made significant kicks for the team throughout his career and expected him to continue doing so moving forward.
