CAR CRASHES INTO GLASGOW HOUSE UNDER GANG VIOLENCE INVESTIGATION
Police are investigating after a car struck a house in Eaglesham, East Renfrewshire, on Friday afternoon. Officers attended the property on Low Boryland Way at approximately 13:20. The brick wall near the front door was damaged, with smoke marks visible on the upper floor. Police Scotland stated that no injuries were reported and inquiries remain ongoing.
Police Scotland is not ruling out a connection to Operation Portaledge, its investigation into gangland activity across central Scotland. The crash occurred following reports of renewed violence between rival crime groups in Glasgow this week. The incident took place at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac of detached homes, which was cordoned off on Friday and protected by temporary fencing on Saturday. A large police presence was observed at the scene.
The crash coincides with a reported escalation in a feud that Police Scotland said had concluded in July following dozens of arrests and a "resolution of differences" between rival groups. The original dispute began in Edinburgh in March last year and led to 84 recorded incidents including fire-raisings and attempted murders. Operation Portaledge prosecutions have resulted in substantial custodial sentences, including an eight-year and four-month term for Arran Reid following a machete attack, and a combined 25-year sentence for four men convicted of fire-raising offences.
