WIGAN WARRIORS EXTEND WINNING RUN TO 12 GAMES WITH VICTORY OVER WAKEFIELD
Wigan Warriors defeated Wakefield Trinity 26–12 in a Betfred Super League match, extending their winning streak to a club-record 12 consecutive victories and moving to the top of the table. Bevan French opened the scoring for Wigan, followed by two tries from Liam Marshall, which put the hosts 20–0 ahead at half-time. Jai Field then scored a length-of-the-field try on the counter-attack in the second half to secure the result.
Wakefield mounted a second-half response, with Corey Hall scoring a try shortly after the interval. Ky Rodwell added another try for the visitors, but Wigan's defence held firm to prevent a comeback. The victory moved Wigan one point clear of Leeds Rhinos at the summit, whilst Wakefield remained fourth in the standings.
Field's try came after Wakefield spilled the ball metres from Wigan's tryline as they searched for a second score. The win represents the first time in the club's history that Wigan has recorded 12 successive Super League victories. Wakefield's efforts to challenge for the title remain constrained by their fourth-place finish in the table.
