THREE ADMIT ROLES IN ARSON ATTACK ON LONDON MEDIA OFFICE
Three people have admitted involvement in an arson attack on the offices of Volant Media, parent company of the Persian news channel Iran International, in north-west London on 15 April. Nathan Dunn, 19, pleaded guilty to arson being reckless as to whether life is endangered. Oisin McGuinness, 21, pleaded guilty to arson, dangerous driving and possession of Class A drug cocaine. A 17-year-old boy admitted the lesser offence of arson but denied the more serious charge; the prosecution did not accept his plea and he faces trial on 1 February 2027.
Police responded after an ignited container was thrown towards the site, landing in a car park where the fire immediately extinguished. No injuries resulted from the attack. The container was thrown from a black four-wheel-drive vehicle. Dunn and McGuinness are both from Watford, Hertfordshire. McGuinness' pleas on arson and the drug possession charge were accepted by the Crown Prosecution Service; the dangerous driving plea was also accepted by the court.
Dunn and McGuinness have been remanded into custody. The 17-year-old, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, has been remanded into local authority care. The case proceeded at the Old Bailey, London's Central Criminal Court. Iran International is a London-based Persian-language news channel that has reported extensively on events in Iran.
