MURDER INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED AFTER REMAINS FOUND IN LONDON WOODLAND
Metropolitan Police launched a murder investigation after human remains were discovered in woodland near Padstow Walk in Feltham, south-west London. Officers received a call at 6.35pm on 12 August reporting bones at the location, known locally as 'The Pits'. Subsequent examination confirmed the remains are human. A postmortem examination on 17 August led to the murder investigation being opened.
The remains are believed to belong to a woman aged approximately 25 to 45 years old, though enquiries are ongoing to confirm her identity. The length of time the remains have been at the location remains unclear. Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley, leading the investigation, stated that police are working to establish the full circumstances of what happened. The woodland has been taped off to the public, and a crime scene is expected to remain in place for a number of weeks.
Police have appealed for information from the public. Detective Chief Inspector Jolley said officers are keeping an open mind and urging anyone with information to come forward.
