KIM LE COURT WINS TOUR OF BRITAIN WOMEN STAGE THREE
Mauritius's Kim Le Court won stage three of the Tour of Britain Women on Friday, attacking with 2.5 kilometres remaining on the final climb of Great Orme near Llandudno. Le Court finished 13 seconds ahead of Germany's Liane Lippert of Movistar, with Sweden's Caroline Andersson a further seven seconds back in third place. The victory moved Le Court to the top of the general classification standings with two stages remaining. The Netherlands' Lorena Wiebes, who had won the opening two stages, finished tenth and dropped to third place overall.
Le Court, 30, rides for AG Insurance-Soudal and now leads the general classification by 26 seconds from Lippert, with a 35-second advantage over Wiebes. Britain's Lauren Dickson of FDJ United – SUEZ finished sixth on the stage. The 104.7-kilometre route travelled from Mold to the summit finish on Great Orme. Le Court has previously competed in the Tour de France Femmes and finished last year's edition of the Tour of Britain after crashing out.
Separately, the International Testing Agency announced on Friday that South African cyclist S'annara Grove has been provisionally suspended following an adverse analytical finding for ipamorelin from a sample collected on 28 July at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Grove, 32, rides professionally for the Smurfit Westrock team and did not start stage three, having been in 80th place after stage two. The ITA said Grove has the right to challenge the provisional suspension.
