ASTON VILLA SIGNS WAN-BISSAKA FROM WEST HAM ON LOAN
Aston Villa have completed the signing of West Ham defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka on a season-long loan deal with a conditional obligation to buy. The 28-year-old right-back from the Democratic Republic of Congo missed West Ham's first two matches of the season during negotiations for a return to the Premier League. West Ham had previously sought a £25m fee from interested clubs, though the exact terms of the loan agreement remain undisclosed. Wan-Bissaka may feature in Villa's first Premier League match against Brighton on Sunday.
Wan-Bissaka joined West Ham on a seven-year contract from Manchester United in 2024 and made 65 appearances across two seasons at the club. He featured in 25 matches last season as West Ham were relegated to the Championship. During his time at Manchester United, he made 190 appearances and won the League Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024. Most recently, he started all four of the Democratic Republic of Congo's matches at the 2026 World Cup, helping the side progress to the round of 32.
Villa finished fourth in the Premier League last season and won the Europa League under manager Unai Emery, securing qualification for this season's Champions League. The signing provides competition at right-back as Villa prepare for their domestic and European commitments. Wan-Bissaka's acquisition adds established Premier League experience to Villa's defence.
