YUNG FILLY ORDERED TO FACE RETRIAL ON RAPE CHARGES IN AUSTRALIA

FRI 21 AUG 2026 CRIME

Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, known professionally as Yung Filly, will face a retrial on three rape charges following a trial in Perth, Western Australia. A jury acquitted him of three counts of rape, one count of assault and one count of strangulation, but could not reach a verdict on the remaining charges. He was found guilty of two counts of assault, for which sentencing will be delayed until after the retrial concludes. The 31-year-old YouTuber denied all 10 charges brought against him.

Barrientos was accused of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old woman in his hotel room in Hillarys, a coastal suburb of Perth, after performing at a nightclub in 2024. The court heard that he and the woman had consensual sexual contact, before she alleged he became violent and disregarded her requests to stop. During the trial, Barrientos told the court that he had met the woman at the concert venue and that they had established good rapport before going to his hotel. The prosecution characterised him as an "entitled" man who had violated the complainant "in the most intrusive way possible", whilst his defence lawyer argued the accuser's account contained "inconsistencies, embellishments and outright lies".

Barrientos, who was born in Colombia and raised in the United Kingdom, is known for his work with the YouTube collective Beta Squad and has appeared on Channel 4's celebrity edition of Bake Off. He is scheduled to appear in court on 27 August for a bail variation hearing. The prosecution has indicated that the complainant is willing to testify again at the retrial, though no retrial date has yet been set.
