DALLAS WINGS ROOKIE AZZI FUDD OUT FOR SEASON WITH KNEE SURGERY
Dallas Wings rookie guard Azzi Fudd will undergo an arthroscopic procedure on her right knee early next week and will miss the remainder of the 2026 regular season. The team announced that Fudd has not featured in matches since 5 August and will begin rehabilitation immediately following the procedure, which will be performed in Connecticut. With fewer than five weeks remaining in the regular season after surgery, Fudd will be unavailable for all eight of Dallas's remaining games.
Fudd's injury represents a recurrence of ongoing problems with the same knee. She previously tore her anterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament in her right knee in 2019. In 2023, she sustained another anterior cruciate ligament tear along with a meniscus tear in the same knee, which ruled her out for the rest of that season. Fudd, who was the No. 1 pick in the 2026 draft, posted on social media that she understands the recovery process ahead and expressed gratitude to her family, inner circle and the Wings organisation.
The absence comes as Dallas holds a record of 20 wins and 16 losses, currently positioned eighth in the standings. The team stated it will provide additional updates following the procedure when appropriate. Fans have attributed Fudd's injury to coaching staff decisions, though the Wings organisation has made no public statement regarding the cause of the knee soreness.
