US OPEN TICKET PRICES RISE SHARPLY AMID INJURY CONCERNS FOR TOP PLAYERS
A grounds pass for the first day of the US Open at Flushing Meadows costs $363, according to tennis journalist Simon Cambers. The average entry price across the tournament stands at $311, up from $262 the previous year. Day sessions at Arthur Ashe Stadium average $348, representing a 21.4 per cent increase over the past 30 days, whilst night sessions average $231.
Cambers noted that US Open ticket prices substantially exceed those at other Grand Slam tournaments. A grounds pass for any opening-week day at Wimbledon costs $44.70, whilst the French Open and Australian Open charge $45 and $35 respectively. The US Open has historically been the most expensive of the four majors. The price increases come as Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, the tournament's top two players, remain uncertain whether they will compete due to ongoing injuries. Sinner and Alcaraz have not entered the mixed doubles event, suggesting the situation is serious.
Both players command substantial fan support. Alcaraz is the defending champion, having defeated Sinner in the previous final. Should both miss the tournament, ticket sales could be significantly affected, as their supporters may decline to pay the elevated prices to watch other competitors. Venues during the opening week risk remaining unsold in such circumstances, according to the report.
