MURDER INQUIRY LAUNCHED AFTER WOMAN DIES IN HOUNSLOW HOUSE FIRE

A murder investigation has been opened following a house fire in Hounslow that resulted in one death and multiple hospitalisations. The Metropolitan Police attended a property on Berkley Avenue just after 1am on Wednesday following reports of a fire. A 48-year-old woman died in hospital, and a further woman aged 40 remains in a life-threatening condition. Six men and one woman were also taken to hospital but have since been discharged with minor injuries.

Police said they believe the fire may have been started deliberately, though no arrests have been made. Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, leading the investigation, stated that officers are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident. The force described the matter as an isolated incident within a residential address. The Metropolitan Police, London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service all attended the scene.

Police have appealed for information from the public to assist their enquiries, including CCTV, doorbell camera and dashcam footage. Officers will remain in the area as the investigation continues.
