Tyler Biadasz, centre for the Los Angeles Chargers, suffered damage to his anterior cruciate ligament and additional injuries to his left knee during a joint practice against the San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday. The injury occurred during an 11-on-11 drill when 49ers defensive tackle Sebastian Valdez fell onto Biadasz's left leg. Biadasz was unable to put weight on the leg and was carted from the field after trainers attended to him for approximately five minutes. The Chargers stated that Biadasz underwent imaging and is gathering additional opinions.

Biadasz signed with the Chargers on a three-year, $30 million contract during the offseason, his first free-agency deal with the franchise. He previously spent four seasons with the Dallas Cowboys and two seasons with the Washington Commanders from 2024 to 2025. The signing was intended to strengthen a struggling offensive line. The Chargers faced significant injury problems at the position during the 2025 season, with left tackle Rashawn Slater missing the entire campaign after suffering a torn patellar tendon and right tackle Joe Alt missing most of the season due to an ankle injury.

The injuries across the offensive line appeared to affect quarterback Justin Herbert's performance during the 2025 season, according to available data. Herbert was sacked 54 times, up from 41 sacks in 2024. Jim Harbaugh is entering his third season as head coach of the Chargers.
