TOM HOLLAND TO EARN $100M FROM SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY
Tom Holland is expected to earn at least $100m from Spider-Man: Brand New Day, according to reports citing unnamed sources with knowledge of his contract. The British actor received an upfront payment of $20m (£15m), approximately double his reported upfront fee for Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021. Additional earnings of $80m or more are anticipated from backend bonuses tied to the film's box-office performance.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day has grossed more than $2bn in global ticket sales within three weeks of release, making it the eighth highest-grossing film of all time without adjustment for inflation. Of the eight films to reach the $2bn milestone, only Avengers: Endgame reached that figure faster. Holland's compensation reflects a newly negotiated deal struck after his initial Spider-Man contract expired following No Way Home; his previous payments for the role ranged from $250,000 for Captain America: Civil War to $10m for No Way Home.
The film's commercial success arrives as audience interest in Marvel Cinematic Universe films and superhero productions has declined. The Marvels grossed $206m against a reported production budget of $270m in 2023, whilst Madame Web earned $100m against an $80m budget in 2024. Holland's substantial earnings package from Brand New Day represents a significant reversal of that recent box-office trajectory for superhero films.
