COVENTRY CITY SIGN CHERIF FROM FENERBAHCE
Coventry City have completed the signing of forward Sidiki Cherif from Turkish club Fenerbahce on a long-term deal. The 19-year-old, born in Guinea, becomes Frank Lampard's eighth summer signing for the Sky Blues. Cherif said he was "very happy" to join the club and "excited to be playing in the Premier League". The transfer fee was reported as £21 million.
Cherif began his career in France with Angers, making his professional debut in the 2023-24 season at age 16. Angers won promotion from Ligue Deux to Ligue Un that year, and Cherif scored four league goals in the 2024-25 season before joining Fenerbahce on loan with an obligation to buy. One account records him scoring two goals in 12 Turkish Super Lig appearances; another states he scored seven goals in 36 games across the 2025-26 season with Fenerbahce and his loan spell combined. Cherif has represented France at Under-16 and Under-21 level and featured in UEFA Champions League qualifying matches.
Coventry secured promotion to the Premier League last season by winning the Championship title, finishing 11 points clear of Ipswich Town. The club's return to the top flight marks their first season in the Premier League since 2000-01, when they were relegated. Lampard has overseen significant investment this summer, with Cherif joining fellow signings including Caleb Yirenkyi, Carl Rushworth, Loum Tchaouna, Aurele Amenda, Taiwo Awoniyi and Gustavo Hamer.
