WILDFIRES CONTINUE AS RAIN REACHES DROUGHT-HIT AREAS
Wildfires continued across Britain despite rainfall reaching some drought-affected areas for the first time in two months. Kent experienced significant fire activity, with six fire engines deployed to tackle a large wildfire at a farm in St Margaret's-at-Cliffe near Dover, and a separate grass fire at Mote Park in Maidstone.
The Met Office forecast "meaningful" rain for drought-hit regions in the coming days. Officials cautioned that the rainfall alone would not resolve the drought overnight, and warned that some areas could experience flooding as a result of the incoming precipitation.
