Brighton & Hove Albion have signed Canada striker Promise David from Royale Union Saint-Gilloise on a season-long loan with an obligation to buy for a reported £22m. The 25-year-old has made 82 appearances for the Belgian side since 2024, scoring 41 goals and providing nine assists. David featured in four of Canada's five fixtures at the World Cup, scoring in the 2-1 group stage defeat to Switzerland.

David began his career in Canada before moving to Croatia and the United States. He subsequently played for two clubs in the Maltese Premier League, Estonian side Nomme Kalju, and then Royale Union Saint-Gilloise. Brighton's sporting director Mike Cave stated that David possesses "outstanding physical attributes and a track record of scoring goals" and that his "experience at international level and in European competition will hopefully prove valuable this season".

Brighton face Tromso in the Europa Conference League play-offs on Thursday at 18:00 BST. The club then begin their Premier League campaign away to Aston Villa on Sunday at 14:00. Cave added that David, at 25, is "entering his prime playing years" and that Brighton are "excited to see him continue to develop in our environment".
