GIANTS QUARTERBACK DART SACKED IN PRESEASON OPENER
New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart was sacked by Minnesota Vikings linebacker Jay Ward with 10 seconds remaining in the first quarter of their preseason game, according to reports of the match. The hit left Dart motionless on the field, requiring medical attention in the blue tent. Running back Tyrone Tracy was in coverage for the play but failed to block Ward as the linebacker advanced through the line.
Former NFL nose tackle Breiden Fehoko criticised Tracy's performance on the play, stating that inadequate blocking puts the franchise quarterback at risk. Fehoko said Tracy should have scanned for blitzers and provided protection before releasing into his route. Tracy, who is 26 years old, received public criticism from Fehoko for the missed assignment on social media.
The sack occurred in the Giants' first preseason game of the season against the Vikings, with Minnesota leading 3-0 at the time of the play. No official statement regarding Dart's condition or status for forthcoming matches has been reported at this stage.
