SAINTS FIRST-ROUND PICK TYSON OUT TWO MONTHS WITH HAMSTRING INJURY

MON 17 AUG 2026 US SPORTS

Jordyn Tyson, a first-round pick for the New Orleans Saints, sustained a hamstring injury during a joint practice with the Jacksonville Jaguars and is expected to miss approximately two months, according to reports. The injury timeline would extend into October and makes Tyson a candidate to begin the 2026 season on injured reserve. If placed on injured reserve, he would be required to miss at least four games before becoming eligible to return.

The Saints acquired Tyson to pair alongside wide receiver Chris Olave to provide quarterback Tyler Shough with multiple receiving threats in Shough's first full season as a starter. The Saints head coach Kellen Moore stated that Tyson's current hamstring injury is not connected to previous hamstring issues Tyson experienced whilst playing for Arizona State University. The club retains the option to designate Tyson as eligible to return if they delay placing him on injured reserve until the roster reduction to 53 players occurs later this month.

The extent of the impact on the Saints' offence will depend on the timing of Tyson's return to contributing in matches during the autumn. The injury represents a significant setback to a receiving corps that was constructed to support a quarterback entering his first full season in the role.
