CRISTIANO RONALDO SAYS 2024-25 SEASON IS PROBABLY HIS LAST
Cristiano Ronaldo has stated that the 2024-25 football season is "probably" his last as a professional player. The 41-year-old Portugal captain made the comments in an interview with Vogue magazine published on Sunday. Ronaldo said he wants to "leave a spectacular legacy" and described his future after football as "all mapped out". He has scored more than 950 goals across his club and international career.
Ronaldo previously indicated he would retire within "one or two years" but has now suggested the end of his playing days may come sooner. The Al-Nassr forward said football could otherwise "leave a big hole" and outlined plans to fill his time through travel and padel. Ronaldo married his partner, Georgina Rodríguez, in a ceremony in Cascais, Portugal on Tuesday. He told Vogue he intended to "continue to enjoy what I've earned" after 25 years in professional football.
Ronaldo is preparing to join Al-Nassr for the new Saudi Pro League season after Portugal reached the last 16 of the World Cup. The former Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus player has not confirmed a precise retirement date. His statement represents the most specific timeline he has given for ending his career.
